Register A Domain Name For Free
2006

Scam Alert: Some companies charge up to $ 2,000 just to Register A Domain Name!
I do not think so, but … I received several letters companies that say they "only" costs $ 1,000 to register our domain name! Unfortunately, some innocent people have accepted this offer ridiculous.
Obviously, this is a complete scam. And that tenders received to save even more domain names for "only" $ 300!
OK. So what does it take to register a domain name? The short answer is that it should cost between $ 15 and $ 75 (excl InterNIC – see below). Nothing is a scam.
Here's why: There are two types of fees to register a domain name:
A fee of InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center – The group responsible for the allocation of domain names) and
A company is responsible for registering domain names for you.
1. InterNIC is responsible to Register Domain Names. Until September this year (1995), there were no charges InterNIC to register domain names. Therefore, if you completed the form concerned and submitted to InterNIC, you can register a free domain.
Before the InterNIC registration fee, some people have registered many names domain. For example, some people tried to register the name of the greater number of large companies that could, so that they can later sell these domain names these companies (when companies realized that "his" domain names not available).
On September 14, 1995, InterNIC announced that the rate of all records of new domain names would be $ 100, including two years of registration. Therefore, all new domain registrations will now cost a minimum of $ 100, the price of InterNIC. (Last Updated: Fees for Web addresses registered on or after April 1, 1998, the U.S. is $ 70.00. New records are in force for a period of two years.)
The annual renewal fee (for both new and existing fields) is $ 50. Therefore, all domain names that were registered before September 14, 1995 (when the registration fee of $ 100 has been created) will be charged a $ 50 fee renewal date annual anniversary of their initial registration. (Update:. Every domain name re-registered on April 1, 1998 will be charged a fee of $ 35.00 U.S. re-registration)
On the Web: For more information, the web address is InterNIC Registration Services target = "_blank" http://rs.internic.net/rs-internic.html>. (Update: Network Solutions now handles registration services: title = "http://www.networksolutions.com/" target = "_blank"> http://www.networksolutions.com/)
2. Many people hire your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or consultant to register Domain names for them.
The process of Registering A Domain Name almost always involves these five steps:
Selecting a domain name registration
If the domain is available
Choosing an ISP that hosts the domain
Fill out the form at the request of the domain name (made by you or by the ISP)
Send this form to InterNIC (made by the ISP).
A useful tip: You can now use the Web to find out if the domain name you want Registration is available by using WHOIS. It is much more convenient than other means of knowing whether or not a domain name is available. But remember, the name can be attributed to someone else between the time the application is submitted and when it is reviewed by InterNIC.
Web: See the information to them, together with instructions included as part of the agreement for registration of domain names to find a new area name. Complete and submit the form is not difficult (although it is necessary to know what you do).
A reasonable price to pay for your ISP (or consultant) to complete and submit this form to be between $ 15 and $ 75. Our ISP charges us $ 30 and doing an excellent job. Pay much more for it is not necessary.
This means you will pay a total of $ 115 to $ 175 (including $ 100 InterNIC) to register name domain name. (At the time of original publication)
Note: This scam is about consultants who charge $ 2,000 just for registering a domain name. If your ISP starts talking about fee of $ 2000, which will probably give the service area more than necessary. (Most services you want Internet provider's sometimes called "domain aliases", and can be implemented by the listed price.)
Tip: Do not worry if you are not the contact technical or administrative (Questions 4 and 5 of the form) – that's fine. Only the 3rd 3f sure questions are filled with your company name and information. Thus, you'll own the domain name, not your ISP or consultant.
